Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about decoding Australian military service records.

What records can you decode?

We decode Australian military service records from the Boer War through to Vietnam (1899-1975). These are the records held by the National Archives of Australia.

What do I receive?

You receive two files: a Word document with a full narrative of the service record, and an Excel spreadsheet with a line-by-line translation of every entry.

How long does it take?

Approximately 12 minutes from upload to delivery.

How much does it cost?

$59 AUD per record. One flat fee, no subscriptions.

Where do I get the records to upload?

Download your family member's digitised service record from the National Archives of Australia at recordsearch.naa.gov.au. We do not access NAA systems - you download the images yourself and upload them to us.

Can you decode records from other countries?

Not currently. We are purpose-built for Australian military records from the National Archives of Australia.

Is my data secure?

Yes. Your uploaded images are processed securely and are not stored after your files are delivered. We completed an OWASP ZAP security scan with 0 High findings before launch.

What if the record is hard to read?

Our purpose-built military research engine runs multiple passes over each image to extract, decipher, and contextualise the content. Handwritten entries, faded ink, and archival damage are handled as part of the standard decode process.
